Global Freeze Get a Modifier at the Beginning

Chapter 355: The father of two children

“You two stay and guide us, the rest of you can go play on your own.”

After hearing Liang Yu’s words, the soldiers looked at each other, unsure of what to do.

The leading captain glanced at both sides and instructed his own people.

“They are honored guests, and you are responsible for protecting their safety.”

“And safely escort them back to the city to await the start of the Young City Lord’s wedding banquet.”

He turned to look at the Indigenous people stall owner and said to the remaining people, “Let’s go, and bring the people back with us.”

Lan Ling, who had originally intended to act, was a little confused when she saw them dismissed by Liang Yu in just a few words.

She had her one-man army move closer to Liang Yu, glanced at the two soldiers who remained, and quietly asked Liang Yu,

“No, how could they determine that you are an honored guest of that Young City Lord?”

“Why did they believe your nonsense?”

Liang Yu, however, laughed and retorted,

“Believe?”

“Which eye of yours saw them believe my words?”

“Didn’t you see that we still have two bodyguards following us?”

This made Lan Ling even more confused.

“So what are they planning?”

“The other party clearly knows we are not the so-called honored guests, so why do they still let us move freely, only sending two people to follow?”

He hadn’t expected Lan Ling to be unable to figure out such a simple matter.

What were they now?

They were the Young City Lord’s honored guests!

As long as they weren’t brain-damaged, they wouldn’t make things difficult for the two of them, and they didn’t need to verify their identities.

The other party wasn’t that foolish; instead, they sent two people to follow them. One reason was to fulfill their duty of supervision, and the other was that even if he truly was the Young City Lord’s honored guest, they wouldn’t be considered negligent, as they had arranged for people to protect and guide him, leaving no room for complaint.

After listening, Lan Ling asked a crucial question.

“No, why does he have to go through so much trouble?”

“Couldn’t he just send someone back to ask and find out?”

“Where we come from, it’s just a phone call to confirm.”

However, Liang Yu just smiled and didn’t answer the question. This little girl, Lan Ling, was still thinking too simply.

That group of soldiers was clearly wary of him and didn’t want to offend him. Since he had provided an excuse, they simply went along with it.

Liang Yu didn’t intend to tell Lan Ling these things; there was no need for her to know.

So he said to Lan Ling,

“Isn’t this great?”

“You wanted to join in the fun anyway, and now you even have someone to guide you.”

After a while, the two finished their whispered conversation and looked at their two new little followers.

Liang Yu stepped forward and greeted them, but the two showed no reaction.

Liang Yu mused to himself, it seemed these two followers had no intention of communicating with him. He wondered if they would intervene if he encountered any issues or trouble.

But after observing them for a while, Liang Yu felt he was overthinking it. They were so indifferent to him; how could they possibly protect the two of them? These two were, at most, just observers.

However, it didn’t matter. Liang Yu felt that as long as his objective was achieved, it was fine, as he didn’t need protection anyway.

Lan Ling, on the other hand, had her one-man army circle the two soldiers, occasionally reaching out to poke their peculiar equipment.

At this point, Liang Yu stepped between them.

“Stop messing around, let’s continue exploring.”

So, the group of them walked towards another street in the market.

In Liang Yu’s opinion, having two extra followers wasn’t necessarily a bad thing.

After the four of them left, a head appeared from a nearby restaurant, watching Liang Yu and their retreating figures, and gave a few instructions to someone next to him.

Liang Yu was unaware that he was already being targeted. Upon arriving at another street, he had already packed many portions of specialty food and was still continuously buying and buying.

On this street, anything the two of them hadn’t seen or tasted, they would buy one portion to pack and another for Liang Yu to hold. The delicious ones would be devoured in two or three bites, while the truly unpalatable ones would be tossed to a nearby stray dog.

After throwing a few times, Liang Yu noticed that the food he found unpalatable, when thrown down, the dogs would only sniff it before directly biting into it.

This made him involuntarily recall a time before the cold wave, when he bought a roasted chicken drumstick after work, was bumped, and the drumstick fell to the ground.

Adhering to the principle of not wasting, he happened to see a stray dog not far ahead, so he took the drumstick to feed the dog.

However, after placing the drumstick in front of the dog, the dog only sniffed it, barked at him, then turned its head away, not even touching the drumstick on the ground. This left Liang Yu standing there, lost in thought.

Looking at the dog enjoying its meal in front of him, Liang Yu couldn’t help but sigh, the food here was truly clean, unlike where he was from, where many foods, even dogs, wouldn’t eat.

Later, someone joked that it truly confirmed an old saying: “I eat what the dog eats,” but now it was “the dog eats what I eat.”

Just then, two children, a boy and a girl, quickly rushed forward, clearly dividing their tasks, each hugging one of Liang Yu’s thighs.

With snot and tears, they cried out “Papa” to Liang Yu.

At the same time, they wailed loudly in the street, as if at a funeral.

“Papa, Mama and we will be obedient.”

“Please let Mama out, okay?”

The little boy was even more outrageous. After wailing, he let go of Liang Yu’s leg and began kowtowing on the spot.

“Papa.”

“Please.”

“Please, please, let Mama out.”

“She was already frail, and you injured her so badly. If you don’t let her out soon, I’m afraid she won’t survive.”

Liang Yu, the person involved, watched coldly from the side. He already felt murderous intent towards these two children, who were over ten years old.

They were old enough to understand things. Regardless of the reason, slandering him like this, if it were an ordinary Indigenous people, they would probably be gone for good.

Although whether these Indigenous people lived or died had nothing to do with him, he didn’t like being slandered like this. He looked around but didn’t find anyone who seemed to be the mastermind.

Lan Ling, however, watched this melodramatic scene with relish. She only regretted not being there in person; otherwise, she would have run over and grabbed Liang Yu’s leg to cry as well.

It seemed Liang Yu also sensed Lan Ling’s thoughts, turning to find it was her one-man army. It seemed he had overthought it.

As the two children cried and made a scene, more and more onlookers gathered. For some reason, they also seemed to adhere to the principle of loving to watch a spectacle, or something similar.

The sharp-eyed Liang Yu had already noticed that in good vantage points, many Indigenous people had already set up stools and snacks, occupying prime spots, ready to watch how this grand drama would continue to unfold.
