Global Freeze Get a Modifier at the Beginning
Chapter 317: Choose to cooperate?
Six people from the Survivor’s side were killed by An Jintong, so now it was one-on-one.
The two returned to the tense atmosphere of their previous standoff, especially the sole remaining Survivor, who felt immense pressure.
His original team of seven was now reduced to just him, and whether he would survive was another matter entirely.
He might well end up being killed by that woman.
On An Jintong’s side, she hid in a corner, taking out gauze to bandage her unsterilized wound.
It wasn’t that she didn’t have precious disinfectants; she had found some during her previous scavenging.
But the current situation wasn’t suitable for proper wound treatment; she could only do a simple temporary bandage, as she hadn’t forgotten that there was still an enemy alive.
As for the scrapes on her leg, they weren’t very serious; although there was still pain, it was within An Jintong’s tolerance.
But the good news for An Jintong was that the enemy’s numbers were now equal to hers; although she was injured, she was confident she could kill him.
She could even abandon her previous tactics, which she had only used because of the significant numerical disadvantage.
The Survivor knew he couldn’t drag this out any longer, or he would surely die; he had to attack proactively to have any chance of survival.
He took a deep breath, gripped his weapon, and cautiously moved towards An Jintong’s direction.
An Jintong, with her sensitive hearing, heard a subtle movement and a cold smile played on her lips.
Although this movement was not loud, the surrounding silence amplified the sound.
The Survivor himself didn’t notice, perhaps because the vibrations from his footsteps traveled through his leg bones, making him think it was normal, thus causing him to overlook this detail.
Since the other party was doing that, An Jintong also decided to cooperate, intentionally making a slight noise to give him a target.
As expected, upon hearing the noise An Jintong made, the Survivor decisively raised his pistol and fired towards the source of the sound.
The continuous gunshots seemed to embody all his killing intent, each shot aiming to strike An Jintong and put her to death.
However, these incessant gunshots attracted other creatures; at this moment, the Survivor hadn’t noticed this, only focusing on shooting.
Just then, something happened on the ground.
A Meat Worm appeared on the ground between the two, and the bullets all landed on the Meat Worm’s body.
However, the size of the bullets was completely insignificant to the Meat Worm; it was hit by several shots but showed no reaction at all.
Both An Jintong and the Survivor discovered this enormous Meat Worm; the Survivor immediately stopped shooting and moved to another position to hide.
An Jintong, on the other hand, tried to get as far away from it as possible.
After being attacked, the Meat Worm continuously twisted its enormous body, kicking up a cloud of dust.
It opened its large mouth full of sharp teeth and let out a roar.
An Jintong and the Survivor simultaneously realized that this was an extremely dangerous creature.
At this moment, the Survivor looked at An Jintong and shouted loudly at her.
“Hey!”
“Crazy woman, if you want to live, we have to team up.”
“Otherwise, there’s no chance of surviving.”
An Jintong was also considering this problem; in terms of survival probability, working together would indeed be higher.
But would An Jintong willingly cooperate with him?
This man had previously told those she killed that the seven of them would do whatever they wanted to her, and afterward, they would keep her captive and humiliate her, using her as a tool to vent their desires.
How could she forget such a thing? How could she cooperate with such a person? Was she afraid she wouldn’t die, only for him to stab her in the back at a crucial moment?
However, An Jintong didn’t refuse, because she thought of a way to make him willingly fall into her trap.
So she replied loudly,
“My hand is injured.”
“Assembling a rocket launcher takes some time. If you go up and hold him off, then I can consider it.”
An Jintong stopped there; she understood that the more she said, the more easily her flaws would be discovered.
Now, it was up to whether he would fall for it.
Upon hearing this, the Survivor cursed the woman as cunning in his heart, but the situation was pressing, so he gritted his teeth and could only agree.
As for whether he considered the truthfulness of An Jintong’s words, it was unknown, as he had to seize hope when he saw it now.
So he replied to An Jintong,
“Alright, but you have to be quick.”
After speaking, he rushed towards the Meat Worm, firing his gun at it as he ran, trying to attract its attention.
After the Survivor appeared and attracted the Meat Worm, it indeed followed him.
An Jintong seized this opportunity to pretend to assemble a rocket launcher.
In reality, she didn’t have such a thing; she just found an excuse to make him actively attract the Meat Worm’s attention.
As time passed, the Survivor gradually became exhausted; the Meat Worm’s attacks grew fiercer, almost biting him several times.
While fleeing, he naively asked An Jintong,
“Hey!”
“Are you ready yet?”
“How much longer will it take?!”
But his questions went unanswered, and that’s when he realized something was wrong.
When he looked back, he saw An Jintong’s figure slowly escaping, and he immediately understood that he had been tricked.
“You wicked woman, you dared to trick me!”
He roared, desperately running towards An Jintong’s direction.
An Jintong saw that her plan had been discovered, but she didn’t care, running at full speed, with the Survivor and the chasing Meat Worm behind her.
Then, the Survivor made a despairing move; he ran at full speed towards An Jintong, thinking that even if he died, he would drag An Jintong down with him.
But An Jintong picked up her gun and attacked him; the bullets didn’t kill him, but instead wounded his leg, causing him to stumble and fall directly to the ground.
The Meat Worm from behind had already caught up; the Survivor still tried to struggle, but at this point, the Meat Worm would not give him any chance to escape.
Just as the Meat Worm was about to swallow him, the Survivor still didn’t give up, raising his pistol for his last stand in life.
He continuously fired into the gaping maw, but it had little effect. When he pointed his pistol at the Meat Worm’s eye, he pulled the trigger again only to find he was out of bullets.
He could only make one last strike, throwing his pistol as a weapon at the Meat Worm, and then he became part of its body.
The Meat Worm was completely engrossed and had no time to bother with An Jintong, who had already run a considerable distance.
An Jintong, having narrowly escaped, ran for about two kilometers before finding a relatively safe house, where she began to rest.
Her first action was to take out the last precious bottle of water she had and drink it.
After drinking a third of it, she stopped, then took out gauze, an alcohol lamp, a knife, and some anti-inflammatory medicine.
