Global Freeze Get a Modifier at the Beginning
Chapter 290: Are you involved with the company again?
Just based on this point alone, it’s unreasonable; that’s a Broodmother, essential for the entire Zerg’s reproduction.
Although Liang Yu didn’t know why the Broodmother appeared there, he knew that if it could appear, there must be something attracting it.
At the same time, he looked towards the location where the giant Zerg appeared; there was an entrance leading underground.
However, Liang Yu, that old trickster, didn’t go directly into the underground cave; he raised his hand and released several Sixteen Type units, letting them explore the situation below for him.
Then, he constructed a small Mechanical Dome at the cave entrance and stood guard there.
He himself went to the surface, near the location where the Broodmother had appeared.
However, the entire area was covered in ice, which was expected to melt tomorrow when the sun rose and temperatures recovered.
But Liang Yu was now facing a century-old problem: he needed to find something, but he didn’t know what exactly he was looking for.
He didn’t even have the most basic information; he was completely clueless whether he was looking for a person or an object.
What Liang Yu could confirm was that the object or person he was looking for was within this area, and there were no other clues beyond that.
But just standing there looking wasn’t going to solve anything, so Liang Yu took action, melting the ice around him.
Liang Yu arrived at the location where the Broodmother had appeared and searched carefully; the area was full of scorched earth and ruins.
He began to search aimlessly within the vast area.
While Liang Yu was working, the Sixteen Type units underground weren’t slacking off; several of them were diligently exploring and feeding their progress back to the system.
After the system processed the data, an incomplete map of the nest appeared before Liang Yu’s eyes.
Looking at this map, which was only partially completed, Liang Yu found its structure very familiar.
Although it wasn’t finished, no matter how he looked at it, it resembled an ant nest.
Perhaps Liang Yu was unknowledgeable, as he had never heard of such flying insects, but it seemed ants and termites were also considered insects, right?
Suddenly, Liang Yu tripped, and his gaze fell upon the debris at his feet; normally, even if there were hard objects, they would be crushed by the Mechanical Armor.
Looking down at his feet, he found a peculiar crystal half-buried in the ground, emitting a faint blue light.
The structure of this crystal was clearly man-made, with very poor craftsmanship; it didn’t look like something that would attract a Broodmother.
He casually tossed it into his backpack and put it away; after all, there were plenty of strange things, so one more wouldn’t hurt.
With the crystal stored, Liang Yu planned to study it later if he had the opportunity.
After searching for a while longer, Liang Yu arrived at the entrance of a damaged villa and noticed unusual sounds coming from inside.
Liang Yu became alert; he slowly approached the villa’s front door.
When he pushed open the crumbling door, several skeletal remains appeared before him.
A putrid smell permeated the house, and there seemed to be something inside.
He turned on his lighting device, illuminating the entire entryway, but found nothing.
The sound started again, and Liang Yu followed it deeper into the villa, eventually reaching the basement, where he discovered a small girl.
The girl’s limbs were bound by very familiar chains, remarkably similar to those on Su Lan 789.
Surrounding the girl were several humanoid machines, which released a barrier, enveloping her, and showed no reaction to Liang Yu’s arrival.
The trapped girl also noticed Liang Yu, and when she raised her head, Liang Yu admitted he was truly startled.
Her left side of the face was completely rotted, with only her left eye intact, but this eye did not appear to be human.
The right half, however, was not a human face at all; it was covered in dense, wriggling tentacles, and even her eyeball was on an extended tentacle.
Liang Yu tentatively stepped into the room where the little girl was imprisoned, and the humanoid robots nearby reacted.
In Liang Yu’s imagination, they should have warned him with cold mechanical voices, telling him to leave.
But these robots didn’t play by the rules; without even a single warning to deter him, they immediately attacked him, completely disregarding martial ethics.
As Liang Yu stepped into the room, the robot at the front immediately fired a laser beam at him.
Liang Yu clearly didn’t react in time to the laser beam attack and took the full brunt of it, but fortunately, the Mechanical Armor’s defense system blocked the attack.
However, Liang Yu also retreated from the room while defending against the attack.
As a result, the robots did not continue their aggressive actions towards Liang Yu.
This immediately allowed Liang Yu to determine a condition for their attacks, so he wondered what would happen if he attacked the robots from outside.
However, this time he only thought about it; Liang Yu wasn’t foolish enough to attack these robots, as an attack would most likely provoke a counterattack.
Moreover, these robots were clearly meant to confine the girl before him, and looking at her, Liang Yu inexplicably thought of that company that seemed to have a hand in everything.
If he wasn’t mistaken, this girl might be their proud creation, and even the Broodmother was likely connected to them.
After a careful observation, Liang Yu discovered something: the blue crystal he had just picked up might genuinely be what the Broodmother was looking for, but there should be more than one there.
Liang Yu took out a few blue crystals and rolled them across the ground towards the robots.
Indeed, they reacted to the rolling crystals, immediately extending mechanical arms to grab the blue crystals and absorb them into their bodies.
Liang Yu’s guess was correct; these crystals were indeed the robots’ energy source.
But this made him very curious; if they were energy, why did his Mechanical Armor show no reaction at all? Was it simply due to incompatibility?
However, Liang Yu didn’t dwell on it and gave a few more to these robots.
Then, Liang Yu turned his gaze to the girl in the middle, and the Wangshu Sword was once again in his hand; he was a little hesitant, wondering whether to slay the girl before him.
Just then, news came from the Sixteen Type units underground.
One of the Sixteen Type units encountered a Zerg attack and self-destructed, perishing along with the Zerg.
Liang Yu did not order the other Sixteen Type units to go and eliminate the Zerg; instead, he continued to have them explore.
He then looked at the girl again, the Wangshu Sword already raised in his hand, but as it was about to fall, he heard the girl’s voice.
“Don’t.”
“Don’t kill me.”
“Please, don’t kill me.”
The imprisoned girl’s plea for mercy came out, and to Liang Yu’s surprise, she actually had self-awareness?
However, it could also be an instinctive reaction of the body sensing danger, so Liang Yu decided to see if she could communicate before making any further decisions.
“Do you understand what I’m saying?”
