Beast Taming: Starting From Zero
Chapter 85: Let’s go together
“Magnet!” the Magnetic Armored Rat shrieked, scrambling into the corner of the cage.
The person in the inner room merely turned over and continued sleeping, paying no heed.
The Magnetic Armored Rat had been making quite a racket these past two days, and the person in the inner room had grown accustomed to it, moving from initial annoyance to complete indifference.
Those people specifically sought out and purchased newly captured Pets as ingredients, prioritizing the health and freshness of the food.
It was good that there was noise; it indicated that the Magnetic Armored Rat was still lively. Otherwise, if it were listless, it would easily be returned.
The Magnetic Armored Rat huddled in the corner of the cage, trembling.
It remembered its mother saying that Ghost-type creatures were even more terrifying than the Spiny-tailed Lizard on the mountain.
Its grandfather’s grandfather had been cursed by a Ghost-type Pet and turned into a female Magnetic Armored Rat, causing him to live in sorrow every day and eventually choose to leave his home.
It wouldn’t have to change its gender too, would it?
Even if it returned to the mountain now, everyone surely wouldn’t recognize it!
Just as the Magnetic Armored Rat was on the verge of tears, lost in wild thoughts, the bottle of milk, blocked by the cage bars, suddenly vanished again.
The Magnetic Armored Rat saw this and hadn’t even begun to celebrate when the milk abruptly reappeared inside the cage.
“Magnet!”
“Xun!” The Little Treasure Hunting Ghost quickly appeared.
The Magnetic Armored Rat’s cries abruptly stopped. It stared blankly at the small Ghost-type creature before it.
It didn’t seem as terrifying as its mother had said…
“Xiao Xunbao.”
“Xun.”
“Xiao Xunbao, Xun.”
The Little Treasure Hunting Ghost tried hard to explain its purpose.
The Magnetic Armored Rat was stunned for a long while, then confirmed in disbelief.
“Magnet?”
“Magnet, magnet?!”
“Xun.” The Little Treasure Hunting Ghost nodded.
“Magnet!” The Magnetic Armored Rat cried out excitedly.
It nodded solemnly, indicating that it would cooperate fully.
But the next second, the Magnetic Armored Rat’s spirits drooped again.
It pointed to the cage, then to itself.
“Magnet, magnet.”
“Xun.”
At this moment, the Little Treasure Hunting Ghost took off its ring and placed the milk inside.
The Magnetic Armored Rat froze.
It looked at the Little Treasure Hunting Ghost again, its eyes full of admiration.
“Xiao Xunbao.”
The Little Treasure Hunting Ghost pointed to the ring, then to the Magnetic Armored Rat.
“Magnet!” The Magnetic Armored Rat nodded vigorously, jumping into the ring without hesitation.
The Little Treasure Hunting Ghost put the ring back on its head and then disappeared.
The dim room became quiet.
The person in the inner room felt nothing amiss; instead, their brow relaxed, feeling that their ears were finally at peace.
…
Outside the residential area.
“Why did you go up the mountain to find Horned Grass? Couldn’t you buy it online?”
“Mainly to save some money.”
Since they were just waiting around, the two started chatting.
“What about you? What made you decide to come to Qiao Sang’s Old Home for the summer vacation?” Ye Jingwen asked.
“Mainly to help Fire Fang Dog evolve,” Qiao Sang replied.
Ye Jingwen paused, wanting to complain.
Do you even remember that you just graduated from junior high?
If Pets were that easy to evolve, the mountains of Qitang Town would have long become a dangerous area!
But then she thought about Qiao Sang’s recent actions and held back her words.
What right did she have to criticize others? She might end up in the hospital just by going up a mountain, and now she even had to ask her cousin to save a Magnetic Armored Rat that had once saved her.
If she were a Yu Beast Master, how would Zhang Huai dare to so brazenly bring his father to catch a Magnetic Armored Rat in front of her?
Ultimately, they simply didn’t take her seriously.
Just as Ye Jingwen was feeling down, Qiao Sang asked, “I heard Third Aunt say you want to be a Lingzhi Master?”
Ye Jingwen nodded, a little embarrassed: “For independent enrollment, the Lingzhi Master’s professional score accounts for 60%, plus the cultural score of 20%, and the remaining 20% is based on the Pet. I want to give it a try.”
“You’re the most studious among our generation, besides me. I have high hopes for you,” Qiao Sang said.
You?
Studious?
Ye Jingwen was speechless, but Qiao Sang’s words did cheer her up considerably.
She was about to speak when she saw Qiao Sang suddenly get on her bicycle.
“It’s done. Let’s go.” Qiao Sang said, pushing off with her foot.
That fast?!
Ye Jingwen was startled, then quickly suppressed her excitement and hurried to get on her bicycle to catch up.
The bicycle stopped at a place without surveillance.
Under the dim streetlights.
“Xun~” The Little Treasure Hunting Ghost’s figure appeared. It took off its ring and reached inside, and a yellow figure slowly emerged before Qiao Sang.
The Magnetic Armored Rat was panting heavily.
There wasn’t much air in that ring; it felt like it would suffocate if it stayed in there any longer.
After catching its breath, the Magnetic Armored Rat looked up at the surrounding scenery.
There was moonlight, an evening breeze, and the Ghost-type creature that saved it.
And also…
“Magnet!” The Magnetic Armored Rat reacted as if facing a formidable enemy. Its body tensed, its tail stood erect, and faint lightning appeared on its body.
Human!
The Little Treasure Hunting Ghost quickly stood in front of Qiao Sang and began to explain.
“Xun!”
“Xiao Xunbao!”
“Xun!”
Ye Jingwen: “…”
Didn’t you notice the Magnetic Armored Rat was trying to attack me…?
Sure enough, people without Pets are miserable…
Under the Little Treasure Hunting Ghost’s explanation, the Magnetic Armored Rat lowered its guard. Then, as its tension relaxed and its strength gave out, it fainted.
…
The next day.
As soon as Qiao Sang woke up, she found the Magnetic Armored Rat in her room drinking milk with the Little Treasure Hunting Ghost.
It was too late last night, so Ye Jingwen suggested letting the Magnetic Armored Rat sleep at their house first and send it back to the mountain early in the morning.
The Magnetic Armored Rat naturally slept in Qiao Sang’s room.
If it were at Ye Jingwen’s, without the Little Treasure Hunting Ghost as a translator, it might have been struck by lightning as soon as it woke up in the morning.
Qiao Sang checked the time.
9:12 AM.
Qiao Sang, who had just woken up, was a bit dazed.
It’s this late?
Normally, her Ya Bao wouldn’t wait until this hour to wake her up.
Ya Bao?
Ya Bao!
The next second, Qiao Sang instantly sobered up and formed a hand seal.
“Ya.”
The Fire Fang Dog in the star array looked at its Yu Beast Master with resentment.
Qiao Sang was a little embarrassed.
Last night, she was worried about leaving Fire Fang Dog alone at home, so she put it into the yu beast codex. She had intended to release it as soon as she got back, but she was too sleepy and forgot…
“Xun!” The Little Treasure Hunting Ghost was very happy to see Fire Fang Dog come out and cried out.
Fire Fang Dog turned its head and found the Magnetic Armored Rat staring at it next to its little brother.
Although the control of wild transcendent creatures in the town was not strict, the monitoring of wild fire-type Pets was very strict.
After all, even an initial form fire-type Pet could easily cause a fire if it just sprayed a bit of fire anywhere.
This was why the Magnetic Armored Rat had never seen a fire-type creature on the mountain.
“Ya?” Fire Fang Dog tilted its head.
Had its Yu Beast Master gotten a new Pet while it was in the yu beast codex?!
…
10:20 AM.
At the foot of Huangming Mountain.
Because Ye Jingwen had to go for tutoring, Qiao Sang brought the Magnetic Armored Rat alone.
Huangming Mountain was not very far from Shuimao Road; it took about eight or nine minutes by bicycle.
“Magnet.” The Magnetic Armored Rat cried out gratefully.
Although it had dreamed of returning these past few days, it still felt a bit unreal when it actually came back.
After expressing its thanks, the Magnetic Armored Rat eagerly ran towards the mountain.
But after only two steps, it turned its head and found the human who sent the Ghost-type creature to save it following behind.
“Magnet?”
“I’m also going up the mountain, so let’s go together,” Qiao Sang said.
