Beast Taming: Starting From Zero
Chapter 50: Remarks on the launch
I want to chat.
First, let me introduce myself: I am a severe procrastinator with a serious case of ’lazy cancer'.
The reason I wrote this novel was that I recently fell in love with reading beast-taming novels and wanted to find one for female readers, but there were too few, and most had an outdated setting, so I decided to write one myself.
I’m also someone who watched Pokémon from the Kanto region all the way to the Kalos region, so writing about the general aspects of beast-taming shouldn’t be a problem…
Although I know there are fewer people in the female-oriented section and not many will read it, I still decided to write it for female readers with a female protagonist.
After all, I am a girl…
As a newcomer, I published after writing just two chapters; I had no drafts at all, it was purely on a whim, and then I got a contract when I had written over ten thousand words, which made me very happy at the time…
Later, I found that signing or not made little difference; still, not many people read it. Since it was for female readers, I was already prepared, so I just let loose and updated once every two days…
After half a month of this carefree updating, the trial recommendation came. The editor found me and only asked me not to stop updating during the trial recommendation. Since it was my first recommendation, of course, I agreed.
Although at first, I didn’t know why my trial recommendation, which was originally published on Qidian, would appear on QQ Reading…
But my first monthly pass and my first long review were both given to me by readers on QQ Reading, which made me very excited, and I impulsively promised not to stop updating or abandon the novel…
Thinking about it later, I feel that for someone as lazy as me, occasionally stopping updates is still possible…
As someone with ’lazy cancer,’ I don’t have any drafts. I always procrastinate until it’s late before I start typing, and then I play on my phone for a bit, eat something for a bit…
Later, the recommendation PK passed, and I got the next round of recommendations, so I still couldn’t stop updating.
But by then, I had readers who would comment and give votes and rewards, and I felt that people were reading my book, so I became more enthusiastic about writing. Therefore, during that period, I often finished updating by six in the evening.
Actually, I thought about taking a day off many times during that period…
Because I feel the most comfortable updating every two days…
But because people voted and commented every day, I persevered.
Initially, when people commented, I would excitedly leave a reply below, but now I don’t, just in case they urge me to update more…
Although the number of readers in the female-oriented section is not that many among books, for me, going from being a standalone writer to having people leave their ‘footprints’ every day is already quite good.
Regarding the launch, the editor found me two days ago and said it would be on May 23rd…
I feel it’s too fast; I don’t have any drafts, and a launch usually requires a burst of updates…
I’ve procrastinated until the 22nd and still haven’t started saving chapters.
But don’t panic, I’ve decided to drink coffee tonight and write, and update more tomorrow…
Also…
New authors who update two chapters daily after launch are mostly doing so because of the full attendance bonus.
However, because I stopped updating five times between signing the contract and the launch—accumulated during those days when I updated once every two days before getting recommendations—even if I update two chapters daily after launch, I won’t get the full attendance bonus.
I only found out later…
While sad, I was also a little happy, feeling like it gave me an excuse not to update two chapters every day…
I know the number of readers will sharply decrease after the launch, but it doesn’t matter, I will not abandon the novel!
If the results are good, I will work hard to save up some chapters for a burst update.
If the results are not good, I will still update steadily and not abandon the novel; although I update less, it is still the heartfelt effort of someone with ’lazy cancer’!
Actually, I really want to list and thank the readers whose presence I see every day, but it seems inappropriate to put it in the launch thank-you note. I’ll thank everyone properly next time…
Here, I’ll also answer a question that everyone might be more concerned about: whether there will be a male lead.
When it comes to romance, I like to read about deeply abusive relationships…
If I were to write it, I’m afraid I wouldn’t be able to resist concocting a melodramatic, abusive relationship for them, which doesn’t fit the tone of this book, so I probably won’t write a male lead.
Finally, I’d like to ask for initial subscriptions, after all, the chapters published on the 23rd were written by me fueled by coffee…
Hmm, that’s it.
Launch thank-you note, perfect…
