Beast Taming: Starting From Zero
Chapter 48: Baixinsai
“Woof!”
Fire Fang Dog’s bark pulled Qiao Sang back from her thoughts.
She looked down and realized that an entire bottle of qi yuan milk had already been drunk.
Fire Fang Dog looked at her Yu Beast Master with a longing expression, wanting another bottle.
Qiao Sang handed over the water she had prepared earlier.
Now that her entire fortune was down to only three digits, water and milk had to be mixed, otherwise her assets might be cleared before the Bai Xin Competition even began.
Fire Fang Dog had no objection to this.
She drank the water in big gulps, took two bites of the super invincible ultra spicy grilled wings, then turned and threw herself back into training.
Qiao Sang watched with mixed feelings.
Fire Fang Dog really seemed to want to learn Mars Rain.
Qiao Sang stared at the constantly fire-breathing Fire Fang Dog for a while, then took out her phone and searched for training institutions in Hanggang City that taught Mars Rain.
Soon, multiple institutions offering skill training appeared on the phone’s web page.
One of them was only three streets away from her current location.
Qiao Sang clicked on it.
“One-on-one nanny-style tutoring”
“One of the most renowned fire-type Pet ultimate move training institutions in the country”
“Possesses a trainer team of over 500 people, including 1 A-grade Beastmaster, 12 B-level Beast Tamers, and 122 C-level Beastmasters”
“Over 20,000 successful ultimate move trainings annually”
The introduction inside seemed greatly exaggerated; if it were truly one of the most renowned training institutions in the country, it would have to add another zero after the “over 20,000 successful times annually.”
However, if it truly possessed an A-grade Beastmaster as a trainer, as introduced, then the strength of this institution was not to be underestimated.
Qiao Sang clicked in and consulted with an AI about the price of training Mars Rain.
Soon, the other party sent the price.
Qiao Sang felt a bit dizzy.
So many zeros…
Ones, tens, hundreds, thousands, ten thousands, hundred thousands…
Qiao Sang couldn’t bear to look further, quickly closed the page, and put away her phone.
It was better to let Fire Fang Dog continue practicing like this; finding someone to train her was out of the question…
…
…
June 30th.
Qiao Sang took bus 63 early in the morning and arrived at the Pet arena located in Shukeyuan.
The arena entrance was already crowded with people, most of whom looked to be around Qiao Sang’s age.
There were also a few scattered people who looked like reporters, holding microphones and randomly interviewing people.
Qiao Sang carried Fire Fang Dog and deliberately took a long detour to queue at Entrance 2, afraid of being interviewed by any sharp-eyed reporter.
After all, Fire Fang Dog was currently wearing sunglasses, which made her very conspicuous among a group of new Yu Beast Masters of the same age.
Fire Fang Dog wore sunglasses this time not because she wanted to, but because Qiao Sang put them on her.
The Mars Rain training a few days ago made no progress at all, and Fire Fang Dog seemed to have lost some confidence because of it, speaking much less. So Qiao Sang decided to just put sunglasses on her.
Although Fire Fang Dog still spoke little with the sunglasses on, her mental state at least improved.
After queuing for more than twenty minutes, confirming her name and receiving her participant badge, Qiao Sang arrived at Row 11, Section D of the arena.
“Qiao Sang!”
The person in Seat 5, Row 11, waved her arm and called out.
Qiao Sang sat down next to Fang Sisi and asked, “Besides you, how many others from our class came?”
Last night, Fang Sisi chatted with Qiao Sang on her phone, and only then did she learn that they had both signed up for the Bai Xin Competition on June 30th, which led to this meeting.
“Not many, maybe only 4 or 5. The time for this Bai Xin Competition just happened to clash with several events of the Interstellar Cup, and everyone didn’t want to miss the live broadcast of the Interstellar Cup,” Fang Sisi replied, her eyes sparkling as she stared at Fire Fang Dog.
It was her first time seeing Fire Fang Dog wearing sunglasses.
She was just too cool!
Fang Sisi thought Fire Fang Dog was cool and said it out loud.
If she usually heard someone praise her like that, Fire Fang Dog would have already puffed out her chest and barked proudly.
But now, she just puffed out her chest without making a sound.
Fire Fang Dog also wanted to make a sound and show off.
But she couldn’t; she had eaten too many super invincible ultra spicy grilled wings these past few days.
Her throat hurt…
“Your Cotton Section Worm is well-bred; she looks much bigger than last time,” Qiao Sang praised.
Actually, she wanted to say fatter…
In just five short days, Cotton Section Worm had become much rounder than last time.
However, insect-type Pets like Cotton Section Worm have short evolution cycles; as long as they eat and sleep well, they develop much faster than other Pets.
This kind of change was visible to the naked eye.
“Cotton~”
Hearing someone praise her, Cotton Section Worm shyly turned her back to Qiao Sang.
“Is she big? I don’t feel like it at all.” Fang Sisi directly reached out, picked up Cotton Section Worm, and weighed her. “She seems to have gained a lot of weight.”
Cotton Section Worm: “…”
They were expressing the same meaning, but why did she feel so uncomfortable hearing her Yu Beast Master say it…
After about twenty minutes of small talk, the surrounding seats gradually filled up.
With the loud bang of fireworks, the Bai Xin Competition officially began.
“What’s your number?” Fang Sisi asked.
“Number 123, and you?” Qiao Sang asked in return.
“Number 11,” Fang Sisi replied.
Qiao Sang: “…”
“Shouldn’t you go to the waiting room to queue? I think it will be your turn very soon,” Qiao Sang couldn’t help but remind her.
The preliminary battles of the Bai Xin Competition were not randomly decided but were directly matched by number, such as Number 1 against Number 2, Number 3 against Number 4, and so on.
“No way, there are still five groups ahead. I’ll go backstage when the fifth group starts; I still want to watch more matches,” Fang Sisi said.
Although Qiao Sang felt it was inappropriate, she didn’t say much more.
What Fang Sisi said wasn’t unreasonable; it would probably take a lot of time for the Host to introduce the competition and for a few groups to compete.
16 minutes later.
“Holy crap! How is it so fast! Qiao Sang, I can’t talk to you anymore, I have to go quickly!” Fang Sisi picked up Cotton Section Worm and left her seat.
She then ran wildly towards the backstage area in the aisle.
Out of the 16 minutes, the Host’s introduction alone took about 10 minutes.
The remaining time was almost one match per minute.
The F-level Beastmasters on stage only had Beginner Pets, with limited abilities. Basically, within about three rounds, as long as one side attacked first, the match could end.
Qiao Sang had originally thought it would be her turn in the afternoon or tomorrow.
Now it seemed it would definitely be her turn in the morning…
“Contestant Fang Sisi, Number 11.”
“Contestant Fang Sisi, Number 11.”
The Host in the Pet arena called Fang Sisi’s name twice, but Fang Sisi never appeared.
“Let us congratulate…” The Host wanted to directly declare Contestant Number 12 the winner, but then a voice suddenly came through her earpiece.
“Let us congratulate Contestant Number 11, Fang Sisi, on her grand entrance!”
Since the start of the Bai Xin Competition, the Host had been dryly announcing the contestants’ numbers and names. This was the first time the word “grand” had been added to a contestant’s entrance.
For a moment, the audience in the stands couldn’t help but feel a bit more anticipation.
3 seconds later.
Fang Sisi appeared on the field, panting.
Beside her, the chubby Cotton Section Worm was laboriously wiggling along…
