Beast Taming: Starting From Zero
Chapter 366: Only one chance
During lunch break, Liu Yao was typing on his keyboard in the office.
These past few days, his emotions were a mix of excitement and exhaustion.
The excitement came from the Yan Ling Dog evolving, and seemingly into a special form, which held immense research value.
The exhaustion stemmed from the fact that the Yan Ling Dog had already evolved into a Liao Xing Hound, yet the project to research how the Fire Fang Dog evolves into the Yan Ling Dog still hadn’t been approved!
Although he knew that a research project, from application to approval, would take at least three months, it had been almost three months since the application, and the only Yan Ling Dog had already evolved into its High Level form. Was it appropriate that the research project hadn’t officially started yet?!
For the first time, Liu Yao felt that the higher-ups’ actions were infuriatingly slow!
He frantically typed messages into the chat software:
“I know things need to follow protocol, but the Yan Ling Dog has already evolved. We no longer have the Yan Ling Dog’s test data, and I’m sure you understand the increased difficulty this poses for our research.”
“Don’t give me that same old spiel from yesterday. When Xie Jiageng researched the mental energy extraction of the Qi Bu Mu, it was approved in less than a week.”
Just as he was about to continue typing, a knock sounded at the door.
“Come in,” Liu Yao responded.
“Vice Principal,” Qiao Sang said, pushing the door open.
“You’re here.” Seeing the person, Liu Yao’s lips immediately curved into a smile.
There were many geniuses in this world, but Qiao Sang was the most unbelievable he had ever seen in Pet handling. Her peers couldn’t compare to her, and now she even showed signs of surpassing all high school students.
Of course, none of that mattered to him.
The most important thing was that Qiao Sang had cultivated a Yan Ling Dog, and in an extremely short time, she had made the Yan Ling Dog evolve again.
One must know that whenever a Pet developed a new evolutionary form, researching its subsequent evolutionary path was often a lengthy process.
A few years ago, when the new evolutionary form of the Red Bat Monster appeared, the research team at the time spent over four years to research the next stage of its evolutionary form.
Those were teams composed of researchers who had received honors and possessed profound academic research achievements. A group of them spent over four years, yet Qiao Sang completed the evolution of a new form of Pet in just a few short months.
If it were merely an ordinary evolution using items, it would be nothing, but that Yan Ling Dog clearly was not.
And there’s also Ice Dew Qiya…
Liu Yao stopped typing, his eyes gleaming, and he asked with a hint of impatience, “You sent a message saying you wanted me to take a look at Ice Dew Qiya?”
Qiao Sang nodded and said, “My Ice Dew Qiya drank a bottle of potential enhancement potion yesterday, and then it underwent a slight change.”
As she spoke, she formed hand seals and summoned Lu Bao.
“Lu.”
As soon as Lu Bao appeared, it looked around at its surroundings, then turned and leaped into Qiao Sang’s arms.
Although Lu Bao had grown considerably in size, Qiao Sang had gained some strength after Ya Bao’s evolution and the subsequent feedback, so she easily caught it.
Liu Yao was slightly taken aback, his expression visibly turning to one of astonishment.
He stood up and walked over, saying in surprise, “It’s actually grown so much!”
Qiao Sang explained, “It might be because the potential enhancement potion it drank was S-grade.”
“S-grade potential enhancement potion?” Liu Yao looked at her in disbelief, “You gave it an S-grade potential enhancement potion?!”
Qiao Sang was a bit bewildered by the Vice Principal’s strong reaction.
“Can’t I give it an S-grade potential enhancement potion?” Qiao Sang asked cautiously.
“No, that’s not it.” Liu Yao said with a complex expression, “It’s just that I haven’t really seen a Pet at the intermediate stage that someone would be willing to give an S-grade potential enhancement potion to.”
Talking to a Trainer is so scary, I almost thought something was wrong… Qiao Sang breathed a sigh of relief, then asked, “Ever since I gave Lu Bao the potential enhancement potion yesterday, not only has its size increased, but its internal energy has also increased significantly.”
“Doesn’t potential enhancement potion boost a Pet’s potential? Why would its energy increase?”
“That’s because you gave it an S-grade potential enhancement potion,” Liu Yao explained. “Any S-grade potion inherently contains immense energy.”
“Potential enhancement potion can boost a Pet’s potential. It doesn’t forcefully increase a Pet’s potential, but rather enhances it based on the Pet’s tolerance and its own previously constrained potential.”
“If a Pet feels pain after drinking a potential enhancement potion, it means that the potion’s grade is not suitable for its current use. Even if it endures the pain and drinks it, most of the medicinal effect will essentially be wasted.”
“The higher the Pet’s level, the better the absorption.”
“Under normal circumstances, an intermediate Pet being able to absorb an A-grade potential enhancement potion is already considered a ceiling-level existence.”
“Your Ice Dew Qiya being able to absorb an S-grade potential enhancement potion indicates that its tolerance and potential are extraordinary. The increase in size and energy is due to the Pet’s relatively low level and the excellent medicinal effect, which is also a normal situation.”
An S-grade potential enhancement potion is sufficient even for Emperor-level Pets. He remembered that Qiao Sang was clearly from an ordinary family. Could it be that she had some extraordinary background? Indeed, without a background, how could she have contracted Ice Dew Qiya? But what kind of background would allow one to contract an endangered Pet… Liu Yao’s mind was in turmoil.
Qiao Sang listened for a long time and understood.
Lu Bao’s situation was normal.
It really is good to have a High Level Trainer around…
At this moment, Liu Yao suddenly turned, walked to the computer by the desk, bent down, and operated it, saying,
“Oh, right, I asked a friend in the Ancient Mist region for some information on the Water Luyana species. I’m sending it to you now; you can read it when you get back.”
Qiao Sang, who was about to speak, immediately brightened:
“Thank you, Vice Principal.”
This information came at just the right time!
Lu Bao was also about to evolve, and she could now understand the High Level forms of Water Luyana.
…
In the afternoon after school, the dismissal bell rang.
Training Ground No. 1.
He Datao’s stout body was unusually straight at this moment, his expression serious, giving off a very proper feeling.
“Stop faking it.” Xu Yixuan nudged He Datao with her elbow. “They’re not here to see you.”
He Datao’s expression fell, but he quickly put on his serious face again. He whispered, “I know, but there are so many people watching now.”
Qiao Sang turned her head, listening to their conversation.
The group of students outside the glass window immediately waved excitedly.
It seemed she had truly become a celebrity. Thankfully, everyone had gone to eat lunch earlier, and there was no one by the restroom, otherwise, if someone had seen her come out of the men’s restroom, where would her lifelong reputation be? Actually, this feeling is strangely a bit exhilarating… Qiao Sang turned back, silently straightening her back a bit more.
Sun Boyi operated the tablet in his hand, and a huge virtual screen instantly appeared on the ground.
The virtual screen was displaying the avatars of several young boys and girls.
“Next up is the elimination round. This is different from the preliminaries and group stages; there’s only one chance. If you lose, you lose everything.” Sun Boyi said, pressing a button on the tablet.
The virtual screen immediately transformed to display a young boy’s avatar and his information.
“I’ll introduce a few of the more outstanding contestants in the elimination round. Listen carefully.”
“First up is Liao Chaonan.”
