Beast Taming: Starting From Zero
Chapter 334: Is he a beast master?
“We’re here,” Wu Chang suddenly said, looking down.
The Yan Ling Dog was still happily walking in the air.
Ever since its energy level increased and it realized it wouldn’t run out of energy and fall down anytime soon at such high altitudes, it had grown to love the feeling of walking in the sky.
“Stop, stop, stop, we’re already here!” Qiao Sang had no choice but to pat the Yan Ling Dog’s back and say.
“Yan!” The Yan Ling Dog made an emergency stop.
“This is a cemetery?” Qiao Sang turned her head and looked down, hesitating.
“Yes,” Wu Chang said apologetically, “It’s always stayed here and never gone out. No matter how I tried to convince it, it wouldn’t go anywhere else. There’s nothing I can do.”
“I understand, social anxiety,” Qiao Sang said.
As they spoke, the two had already landed on the ground.
It must be said that looking from the sky and looking from inside the graveyard gave a very different feeling.
The sky was already dark, and xenon lamps hung on both sides, emitting a yellowish-white glow.
It was unclear what the cemetery management department was thinking; cemeteries already felt eerie, and they liked to use lights with a low color temperature and a yellowish visual effect.
A cold wind blew, and Qiao Sang couldn’t help but hug herself, wrapping her arms around her school uniform.
“Yan…”
The Yan Ling Dog’s entire body tensed, and its expression was wary as it looked around.
“Don’t worry, there are no ghosts here.” Feeling the Yan Ling Dog’s state, Qiao Sang stroked its fur to comfort it.
Although the Yan Ling Dog had experienced a horror escape room and its courage had grown considerably in eerie atmospheres, that was only compared to before; it hadn’t reached the point where it could grin in such an atmosphere.
“Yan…”
Under its Yu Beast Master’s caress, the Yan Ling Dog’s body gradually relaxed.
“Xiao Xunbao!” Just then, the Xiao Xunbao suddenly appeared, making a ghost face with its claws and hanging upside down in front of the Yan Ling Dog.
“Yan!”
The Yan Ling Dog was startled, shivering, and directly slapped it down hard with a paw.
“Xiao Xunbao!”
The Xiao Xunbao cried out miserably as it was slapped to the ground, rolling several times.
Qiao Sang: “…”
This must be a mischievous child… Qiao Sang walked forward with a heavy heart and picked up the Xiao Xunbao.
“Xiao Xunbao!”
“Xiao Xunbao!”
The Xiao Xunbao, teary-eyed in Qiao Sang’s arms, cried loudly, not forgetting to point at the Yan Ling Dog in accusation.
It was just playing! How could such a big paw just slap it down!
“Yan!”
The Yan Ling Dog tilted its head back, snorted through its nose, and showed an expression of displeasure.
This was the consequence of scaring it!
“Xiao Xunbao!”
The Xiao Xunbao buried its head in Qiao Sang’s arms, crying even louder.
Wu Chang looked at this scene, paused for a moment, and said, “Your Yan Ling Dog and Treasure Hunting Fairy are both very energetic…”
You don’t have to force the compliment… Qiao Sang was about to speak, but just then, the surrounding lights seemed to have an unstable circuit, flickering a few times.
The Xiao Xunbao stopped crying.
“Yan…”
The Yan Ling Dog’s body, which had relaxed after the Xiao Xunbao’s antics, immediately tensed up again.
Amidst the flickering light and darkness, a middle-aged man suddenly appeared next to a tombstone, wearing glasses, with slightly curly hair, and a refined face that looked somewhat eerie in this lighting atmosphere.
“Holy crap!”
“Yan Yan!”
Qiao Sang and the Yan Ling Dog jumped back a big step in sync, startled.
“Xiao Xunbao…”
The Xiao Xunbao showed an expression of “can’t bear to look.”
Its Yu Beast Master and Big Brother Yan Ling Dog are both so timid…
“Uncle Zhang!” Wu Chang said with surprise to the middle-aged man.
As he spoke, the xenon lamps also restored their full brightness.
“Yan…”
The Yan Ling Dog relaxed.
Suddenly, it and the Xiao Xunbao made eye contact.
The Yan Ling Dog’s body first stiffened, then it puffed out its chest, trying its best to maintain its usual big brother demeanor.
You scared me to death… After confirming that the other party was a living person, Qiao Sang breathed a sigh of relief, walked up as if nothing had happened, and asked curiously, “Is this your uncle?”
“This is Uncle Zhang. He’s the uncle I told you about, the one who’s very good to me and whom I wanted to introduce to it,” Wu Chang said.
Qiao Sang glanced at the approaching middle-aged man and asked in a low voice, “Why is your uncle here so late at night?”
Generally speaking, normal people visit relatives or sweep graves in the morning or afternoon when there’s still sunlight. Who would come late at night?
Wu Chang was stunned for a moment, then shook his head: “I don’t know either.”
At this moment, the middle-aged man had already arrived.
“Wu Chang, you’re indeed here,” Zhang Rongtang said with a slight smile, “I made food for you, but you never came home. I thought you might be here, so I came to check.”
After speaking, he looked at the young girl beside him.
When he saw the Ghost-type Pet in her arms, Zhang Rongtang’s eyes flickered, and he asked, “And this is?”
“This is Qiao Sang. She’s here for the competition,” Wu Chang introduced.
Zhang Rongtang naturally knew that many students from other Yu Beast High Schools had come to town for the competition these past two days.
He just didn’t expect that in just a day or two, Wu Chang would make friends with a child from another school and even bring her here…
Qiao Sang politely said, “Hello, Uncle.”
“Hello,” Zhang Rongtang said with a smile, “You’re a very pretty girl, Uncle made dinner, would you like to join us?”
“No, thank you, I’ve already eaten,” Qiao Sang refused.
“Yan?”
The Yan Ling Dog walked over from behind, looking at its Yu Beast Master with a confused expression.
Already eaten?
Why didn’t it know?
Zhang Rongtang’s pupils suddenly constricted as he looked at the red and white Pet that appeared. He was about to say something, but then he saw the Ghost-type Pet again. He paused, maintained his smile, and said, “Then I won’t disturb you. Wu Chang, go home early, or the food won’t taste good anymore.”
“Okay, Uncle Zhang,” Wu Chang nodded.
After Zhang Rongtang walked away, Qiao Sang looked at his tiny retreating figure and said with emotion, “Your uncle is really good to you.”
Listening to Wu Chang’s words just now, it wasn’t hard to tell that this uncle was probably not a relative of his.
A person who is not a relative not only cooks but also comes to the cemetery to look for someone just because they’re late coming home… Wait a minute… Qiao Sang suddenly thought of something and asked, “Didn’t you bring your phone?”
“I did,” Wu Chang pulled out his phone from his pocket.
“Didn’t he call you?” Qiao Sang continued to ask.
Wu Chang was stunned for a moment, picked up his phone, looked at it, and shook his head, “No.”
Qiao Sang raised an eyebrow.
Under normal circumstances, shouldn’t he have called first?
“Maybe Uncle Zhang didn’t have his phone on him,” Wu Chang understood the meaning of Qiao Sang’s question and explained, “He usually doesn’t carry his phone, and sometimes I can’t reach him.”
Qiao Sang didn’t say anything more.
Originally, this uncle was just an interlude. Her purpose for coming here was to see the Pet that could double one’s luck.
If it was just a guess at first, then Wu Chang’s words in the sky confirmed her suspicion.
The two arrived in front of a tombstone.
Wu Chang lowered his voice and called out to the surrounding air, “Yun Yun! Yun Yun!”
The surroundings were silent, with no movement.
Qiao Sang stood in front of the tombstone, looking at the spot where she had stopped earlier, startled, and suddenly realized that the spot where that uncle had been standing was where she was now.
She suddenly asked an unrelated question:
“Is that Uncle Zhang a Yu Beast Master?”
