Beast Taming: Starting From Zero

Chapter 275: Leave this assessment to me (Supplementary)

Qiao Sang turned to look at Shi Gaofeng.

Shi Gaofeng hadn’t expected the slap in the face to come so quickly, so he quickly tried to save face, saying, “The remaining one percent who didn’t pass have a ninety-nine percent chance of not having the qualifications to be a Professional Beast Tamer.”

Qiao Sang didn’t comment. From the brief battle just now, it seemed that the Judge hadn’t held back as much as Shi Gaofeng claimed.

And that was indeed the case.

“That Wu Ding guy, he just tests two moves. If he sees someone’s skill proficiency hasn’t reached minor accomplishment, he eliminates them. If it has, he goes easy and lets them pass. How can an E-level Beastmaster assessment only look at skill proficiency?” complained one of the two sitting Judges, a female Judge with wheat-colored skin and black hair tied in a low ponytail.

“You can’t put it that way,” said the other Judge, a male Judge who looked about 20 years old and wore a black baseball cap. “Skills are the foundation of a Pet. For an E-level Beastmaster, it’s too difficult to combine different basic skills, so they can only look at the proficiency of each skill.”

“The requirement for minor accomplishment proficiency is neither high nor low for an E-level Beastmaster. As long as they meet the standard, it shows that the Yu Beast Master has put effort into training their Pet.”

“Are you going to only look at proficiency when you conduct your assessments later?” the female Judge frowned.

“That’s impossible,” the Male Examiner said, stroking his clean-shaven chin. “What I mainly look at is the tacit understanding and cooperation between the Pet and the Yu Beast Master. Proficiency can always be achieved with resources and time, but the cooperation with the Pet is what shows whether a person has the potential to be a Professional Beast Tamer.”

The female Judge’s brows relaxed, clearly agreeing more with this assessment standard.

“You should also lower your standards a bit,” the Male Examiner suddenly turned and said. “Look at you, it’s been a whole morning, and not a single person has passed your assessment.”

“It’s not that my standards are high; I also really want more Yu Beast Masters to pass,” the female Judge retorted. “But the people I’ve assessed really don’t have the talent to be Professional Beast Tamers.”

“The one sitting on the left is commonly known as ‘Don’t even think about passing.’ As long as she’s the one assessing, almost no one can pass,” Shi Gaofeng whispered to Qiao Sang in the waiting area. “I was assessed by her last time.”

At this point, he sighed with genuine emotion: “As long as I don’t run into her again this time, I’m ninety percent sure I can pass!”

Qiao Sang glanced at him and slowly said, “According to the law of ‘flag-setting leads to certain death,’ there’s a high chance she’ll assess you.”

Shi Gaofeng: “…”

“The Judge on the right, the one wearing the black hat, is relatively normal. His pass rate is about fifty-five percent,” Shi Gaofeng cleared his throat and continued to explain. “With these three, at least half of us here should be able to pass.”

“You’ve certainly done your homework thoroughly,” Qiao Sang smiled.

Actually, she felt that knowing this was pretty useless. She should have investigated what the Judges’ Pets were, which would allow her to better choose which Pet to send out.

However, even if she investigated, it wouldn’t matter to her… Qiao Sang looked at Ya Bao, who was excitedly staring at the field.

Ever since she contracted Ya Bao, she had decided that no matter what Pet the opponent sent out, Ya Bao would be the one she used for the assessment.

The assessment was very fast; almost every two or three minutes, someone completed their assessment.

“Next, Shi Gaofeng.”

The male Judge wearing the black hat was assessing Shi Gaofeng.

The E-level Beastmaster assessment is the lowest requirement among Professional Beast Tamer assessments. Although each Judge’s assessment standards are different, there is still a relatively clear difference in strength between Yu Beast Masters who pass and those who don’t.

As a member of the Saint Water Middle School Team, Shi Gaofeng’s strength among his peers was naturally outstanding, but there was no age limit for Yu Beast Masters participating in the assessment.

And to be fair, the Judge would not lower the standards due to age.

Shi Gaofeng struggled a bit at first, but thankfully, his cooperation with Prickly Berry was good.

A wide-area Hypnosis Powder combined with a Fly Leaf Knife that could turn and change direction allowed the male Judge with the hat to see Shi Gaofeng’s potential, so he held back a bit and let him pass.

Shi Gaofeng excitedly waved at Qiao Sang, his eyes full of pride.

“Once you’re done with the assessment, leave quickly. Don’t disturb others’ assessments,” seeing Shi Gaofeng waving for nearly twenty seconds, the male Judge with the hat couldn’t help but say.

Shi Gaofeng quickly said, “I’m leaving right away!”

After speaking, he gave Qiao Sang a “I’ll wait for you” look and walked out with an excited heart.

“Next, Qiao Sang.”

It was finally her turn… Qiao Sang and Ya Bao exchanged a knowing look and stood up to go to the field.

As soon as Qiao Sang entered the field, she attracted everyone’s attention.

It wasn’t particularly rare for students in school uniforms to participate in the E-level Beastmaster assessment; although few, you could always see a few. But a Yu Beast Master with a Yan Ling Dog was different.

One must know that the Alliance had not yet announced the evolution conditions for the Yan Ling Dog, and there was no news circulating online about a second Fire Fang Dog evolving into a Yan Ling Dog.

In other words, this child in a school uniform was the only Yu Beast Master in the world who owned a Yan Ling Dog!

“Online, they say the Yan Ling Dog also has Superpower System abilities. I wonder if it’s true or false.”

“It must be false! If it were really Fire System plus Superpower System, then a Fire Fang Dog would at least start at a million. Look, although the Fire Fang Dog on the market has increased in price now, it’s still far from a million.”

“She looks even younger than the last child who was assessed. Can she pass?”

“Hard to say. Assessing a Professional Beast Tamer’s level isn’t just about looking at attributes. Although there’s only one Yan Ling Dog, that doesn’t mean it’s strong…”

Many people discussed in low voices, their tones somewhat tinged with sourness.

While the Yu Beast Masters waiting for the assessment were discussing, the Judges also started arguing.

“I’ll go. You’ve already assessed 3 people in a row. It’s better to rest,” Wu Ding said.

“Heh, what’s so tiring about that? We agreed beforehand that each person would assess 5 people consecutively before switching. This is only the 4th. If you want to go, I’ll let you take the next one,” the male Judge with the hat said, preparing to walk onto the field.

He said it nicely, but wasn’t he just trying to battle the Yan Ling Dog!

Wu Ding pulled him back and said, “I won’t beat around the bush with you. Let me have this assessment.”

The male Judge with the hat snorted, “Why?”

“I’ll treat you to dinner after work. How about that new restaurant on Xinghe Street?” Wu Ding said with a smile.

The Male Examiner was unconcerned. Any Yu Beast Master would want to meet and interact more with a rare Pet.

If it were normal times, since they were colleagues, he would have given him face. But now, they were assessing the only Yan Ling Dog in the entire Alliance.

Eating could be done anytime, but assessing the Yan Ling Dog—if he missed this chance, he didn’t know when such an opportunity would come again.

Just as the Male Examiner was about to refuse, Wu Ding added, “If you let me have this one, I’ll introduce my sister to you!”

The male Judge wearing the baseball cap looked at Wu Ding’s appearance and immediately began to think.

It seemed, it wasn’t impossible…

“Holy crap! When did Wen Lei go up there?!” Wu Ding suddenly exclaimed.

Male Examiner: “!!!”

The Male Examiner turned his head and saw that Wen Lei, who had been sitting in the Judge’s seat, was already standing on the field.
