Beast Taming: Starting From Zero
Chapter 108: space movement
A new student who contracted two Pets?! And they’re Fire-type and Ghost-type respectively?!
The security guard couldn’t help but suspect he had misheard.
But today was indeed the day for the Yu Chong Class new student training camp report.
The security guard was a bit dazed. He was also a Yu Beast Master. Although his rank wasn’t high, he had at least come all the way from a proper Yu Beast High School.
He had lived for so many years and had never seen a first-year high school student, who had just officially become a Yu Beast Master, contract two Pets in real life.
However, he had seen it in the news…
The security guard steadied himself. As a security guard for the city’s top Yu Beast Middle School, he couldn’t appear as if he had never seen the world.
“Please show me your information card.”
Qiao Sang handed over her information card.
The security guard stared at the screen, looking at it repeatedly.
She hadn’t started school late, hadn’t been held back, and was a recent junior high graduate who had just turned 15.
This was a genius among geniuses; if there were no accidents, her future prospects would surely be limitless.
He slowed down his registration speed and said enthusiastically, “Qiao Sang, your name sounds very nice.”
“Not at all,” Qiao Sang scratched her head.
“It really does sound nice. I register so many names every day, and yours is the only one that leaves a deep impression on me.”
Qiao Sang felt a little embarrassed. There were people who praised her for being pretty, and recently, people who praised her high talent, but no one had ever praised her name so sincerely.
“My ancestor, a grandmother, also had the single character ‘Sang’ in her name. No wonder I feel a sense of familiarity when I see you.”
Qiao Sang: “…”
As soon as the security guard finished speaking, he realized he had said the wrong thing. Normally, these words were reserved for leaders, and now he was using them on a child.
He gave an awkward laugh and said, “You’re here for the training camp, right? Wait for me to make a call and have Xian Teacher come pick you up.”
They’re sending a teacher to pick her up? Is it that big of a deal?
Qiao Sang was a little overwhelmed. Before she could refuse, she saw the security guard had already dialed the number.
“Hello, this is the South Gate security office. There’s a first-year high school student named Qiao Sang here to report for the training camp. Please pick her up.”
So fast…
How come it felt like he didn’t even need to look for the phone number, as if it was right at the top…
“Qunbao.”
The Little Treasure Hunting Ghost on her head suddenly sensed something and looked blankly in one direction.
The air in that direction seemed to twist for a moment.
The next second, a Pet with loose, wrinkled skin, multiple grey and pink areas on its body, a white abdomen, large bat-like ears, and an appearance resembling a bat, appeared out of thin air. It held several pieces of paper in its claws.
Qiao Sang stared blankly at the suddenly appearing Pet. For a moment, it felt familiar, but she couldn’t name it, only knowing it should be a Superpower System Pet.
Her heart tightened. The skill this Pet was using didn’t seem to be Instant Movement but Space Movement.
Instant Movement is a skill that allows one to instantly arrive at another location. It can be countered by sealing off the space.
Simply put, if you put a Pet in a room and close the door, the space it can move in is limited to that room.
But Space Movement can ignore three-dimensional space and move to other coordinates.
The difference between these two is not small at all.
Just from the levels assigned to them by the Alliance, it can be seen that Instant Movement is a mid-level skill, while Space Movement is a high-level skill.
“Ya!”
The Fire Fang Dog, seeing the suddenly appearing Pet, bared its sharp teeth and became wary.
The large-eared Pet ignored the Fire Fang Dog’s actions. It looked Qiao Sang over, then picked up the papers in its claws and flipped through them one by one.
It stopped after flipping through just a couple of pages. The large-eared Pet looked at the page it had flipped to and then at Qiao Sang, as if confirming something.
“Xian Teacher, she’s Qiao Sang,” the security guard reminded him.
Qiao Sang was a bit confused. Xian Teacher was referring to a Pet after all…
Thinking about it, it wasn’t unheard of for Pets to be teachers in Yu Beast society, but the Pets’ teaching subjects were also Pets.
These Pets could be teachers mainly because their own Yu Beast Master held a position at the school.
“Xian.”
Xian Teacher nodded. It held the papers in its left claw and waved its right claw upwards.
Qiao Sang only felt her vision go dark and her head spin.
When her vision returned, she found herself in a room laid out like an office.
Qiao Sang was shocked.
This Xian Teacher’s Space Movement could actually carry people! Its proficiency must have reached perfection!
One must know that without a Gold Finger, training a high-level skill to perfection is not something an ordinary level Pet can achieve.
“Qiao Sang, long time no see,” a deep male voice sounded from beside her.
Qiao Sang turned her head and saw a middle-aged man with a meticulously combed slicked-back hairstyle sitting behind an office desk, with Xian Teacher beside him.
Sitting in front of him was the boy who had participated in the special recruitment exam with her.
“Hello, Vice Principal,” Qiao Sang quickly said.
Qiao Sang recognized the speaker at a glance.
Because of the awakening of the yu beast codex, her memory was getting better and better; she basically wouldn’t forget people and things she had seen.
Most importantly, the Vice Principal was the first A-level Breeder she had met and had even guided her.
After Qiao Sang turned around, Liu Yao was first stunned, then he suddenly straightened his back, leaned forward, and narrowed his eyes.
“Qiao Sang, this Treasure Hunting Ghost is…?”
“It’s my second Pet.”
“Holy crap!”
Before Liu Yao could even begin to process the news, the boy in front of him exclaimed.
“Lu Liangye, mind your language,” Liu Yao glanced at him.
Upon hearing this, Lu Liangye immediately shut his mouth and made a zipping motion over it with his hand.
This news was simply too shocking; it actually made him blurt out profanities in front of the Vice Principal…
Liu Yao stood up and walked towards Qiao Sang, his gaze burning as he stared at the Treasure Hunting Ghost for a moment before shifting his attention to the Fire Fang Dog.
The Fire Fang Dog was originally still looking around, surprised at how its surroundings had suddenly changed, but seeing someone staring at it, it lifted its chin and, with a handsome posture, displayed its sharp fangs.
The more Liu Yao looked, the more incredible he found it.
Just as he was about to say something, he suddenly realized there was another student present, so he returned to his office chair and said, “I was just halfway through talking with Lu Liangye. Since you’re here, listen together.”
Qiao Sang nodded.
“This training camp will have a total of 12 people. Not all Yu Chong Class students will come. You were chosen to participate not because your exam scores were outstanding; you should know that your middle school exam scores were actually not much higher than the minimum passing score.”
Qiao Sang and Lu Liangye exchanged a knowing glance.
So this guy’s cultural score wasn’t high either.
Lu Liangye immediately felt much more balanced.
“But that’s not important. The purpose of this training camp is not to make up for cultural lessons, but to form a team that can defeat Li Tan Royal Pet High School,” Liu Yao said.
