Apocalypse I Have One More Keyword Than Others
Chapter 407 - - Judgment Day 403_2
—————✧✧✧✧—————
“Heh, if Holley were a good person, then I’d be the greatest saint in the world.”
“Yeah, saving someone, if it means plunging them into even greater pain, then I’d rather accept the arrangements of fate.”
“If all the good people in the world are like Holley, then let them all go to hell! The devils would love them, hahaha…”
“Here they come, here they come!”
“Damn, am I seeing things? Why isn’t Holley wearing prison clothes? That must be Duke Linqi accompanying him!”
“I’ve got a bad feeling, Holley might not die today.”
“I knew it, those rumors didn’t come out of nowhere, these damned nobles, they’re always protecting each other…”
…
“Kill Holley.”
“Send Holley to the guillotine.”
“Chop off that scumbag’s head…”
…
When Duge and others went up to the guillotine, the crowd that realized something was amiss suddenly erupted in a huge riot.
The public was enraged.
Everyone was shouting for the execution of Holley.
Clearly.
Holley had infuriated everyone, and no one wanted him alive.
Him being alive meant justice did not exist, it meant more people would be harmed, it meant the common folk would never see their day in the sun.
…
Nelson stood behind Holley, a hint of a smile crossing his lips.
This scumbag had done too many bad things; in such a situation, he doubted anyone would listen to his explanations. He was curious to see how Holley would wrap this up.
Standing right in front of the guillotine, Duge looked at the angry crowd and suddenly unleashed his Martial Spirit. The vast ocean suddenly engulfed the entire crowd, and as the waves surged, many people became unsteady and fell into the water.
However, the Martial Spirit wasn’t actually seawater, so no one would drown or get hurt.
But when the public saw Duge’s Martial Spirit, their anger vanished instantly, replaced by fear.
For a moment.
There was silence in front of the guillotine.
Duge used a Floating Spell on himself and, driven by air elements, he slowly ascended into the air. Then, with the water element, he condensed a mist of water behind his head, refracting sunlight into a rainbow that made his floating body appear holy and solemn.
After a series of maneuvers, Duge looked down at the crowd below and said aloud, “I am Holley Alaus, the scumbag you’re all clamoring to execute. Unfortunately, I can’t die today, and that’s your misfortune.
“But it’s also your good luck because from now on you will live with a Holley who has regained his true nature. He is humble, kind, brave, just, straightforward, upright, equal, and friendly…”
People looked up at Duge in the sky, basking in the sunlight, listening to his beautiful self-descriptions, feeling hopeless and desolate in their eyes.
“I know you don’t believe a word I say, but that’s the truth,” Duge continued. “I used to live by clear conscience and low profile, doing good deeds anonymously, silently protecting you all. I was planning to take all that I bore to my grave.
“But a sage named Li En enlightened me, making me realize I can’t die yet. If I die, no one would be left to protect all of you. So, I earnestly prayed to the god spirits in heaven, asking them to give me hope.
“And so last night, at the most desperate moment of my life, the great Sea God heard my plea. He granted me a powerful Martial Spirit and the magic power to control all elements. He allowed me to walk with dignity in the world, to benefit humankind.
“Man acts, heaven watches.
“While mortals may be blind to the truth, the eyes of the god spirits are not obscured. Only they know that I posses a heart of gold, which is why they blessed me with Divine Power and a chance at rebirth. You don’t believe me, but don’t you believe in the Sea God?”
Under the shadow of the Sea God’s Martial Spirit, people whispered amongst themselves, clearly affected.
Yes!
Gods are omnipotent.
Holley might deceive them, but he surely couldn’t deceive the gods, right?
Only those who had been hurt by Holley still looked upon him with eyes filled with hatred.
The pain was upon them.
They did not feel any warmth or consideration from Holley; all he brought them was endless pain.
“The former me was weak; I was afraid of exposing my abilities and inviting the wrath of the Catastrophe God,” Duge sighed, then continued, “After all, everything I did was to thwart the Divine Power of the Catastrophe God.
“At that time, I could only pretend and resist the Catastrophe God in my own way. To save those whom the Catastrophe God had his eye on, I brought them disaster and pain in my way, yet I dared not let you all know the truth, nor did I dare to rescue you afterwards.
“So, for those of you who have been hurt by me, it’s right for you to hate me.
“But more than you do, I hate myself. I hate my weakness, my incompetence, my fear of struggle. I was scared of being laughed at by other nobles for helping commoners; I could only disguise myself as a profligate to hide the real me.
“Only in the stillness of the night would I repent alone.
“So, to those I have hurt, please allow me to extend my sincerest apologies here: I am sorry, I failed to protect you.
“I know, a simple sorry can’t heal the wounds in your heart. Therefore, I’ve decided to use the best magic to heal your injuries and enough money to compensate for my past mistakes, everyone can stay here to witness…”
